Houses


A system of dividing up the space, into 12 sectors, within which the Earth rotates. Each day, as the Earth makes one complete turn, the whole zodiac passes any single position, or place, on Earth. The position on the eastern horizon, initiates the position of the first house. Each house represents specific experiences and lessons within the environment.



1st House
This house depicts how you interface with the world, your appearance and body face manner. Under stress there may be an unhealthy ego, vanity, or low self-esteem. Certain planets here can reflect Karma with self and childhood. Beneficial aspects provide a balanced view of oneself and others. Spiritually, it reflects the need to grow with independence and balance.

2nd House
This depicts resources, what you have, how you deal with possessions and money. Under stress there may be an obsession with money, power and material values. The beneficial side is the ability to use resources and power for the general good. Spiritually, the desire to rise above materialistic needs.

3rd House
This house is your everyday doings and surroundings, including short trips, speaking and writing, early education communications, neighbors, and relatives. Under stress may indicate obsession with mental energy, becoming a drain on others. Helpful configurations in this house allow for the ability to blend in with ones' immediate environment. Spiritually, the need to understand the higher self, and provide an effective communication of true love.

4th House
This house describes where you are coming from, your roots, heritage, earliest training, nurturing parent, home, inner emotional security and self-image. It is also new beginnings and end of life. Under stress, it can lead to worrying about the past, and addictive relationships. Also karma with mother, emotions and the home. The beneficial side provides for a loving and caring parent. Spiritually, the need to embrace the spirit as ones' true home.

5th House
The house of self-expression, creativity, children, pets, amusements, sports, risk taking, speculation with real estate and new enterprises. Personal interests. Under stress it indicates a critical view of things, a possible obsession with gambling. Helpful planets in this house promotes creative expression of kindness, humility and mercy. Spiritually, the desire to express an authentic expression of love for oneself and others.

6th House
Taking care of business, attending to the daily task, health, service and necessities of life. Many planetary placements here may denote that work figures largely in one's life, or concern for health, hygiene and fitness. Under stress, it can lead to excessive analysis, being obsessed with health and fitness; finicky; a karma with health. Helpful configurations in this house allow for a reliable and balanced sense of duty to oneself and others. Spiritually, the need to let go and allow the divine spirit to be within.

7th House
What you need and look for in a relationship -- marriage, business, or social (not relatives). This house also deals with attitudes to peers, and dealings with colleagues or rivals. Planets here and the sign at the beginning of this house (i.e. on the cusp) may signify the partner. Under stress, there can be obsession with relationships, a persecution complex, or some karma with a partner. Helpful planets in this house assist in the ability to identify anothers true needs. In spiritual terms, embracing the oneness of the Great Spirit.

8th House
House of death, regeneration, wills, legacies, taxes. Big business, other peoples possessions and crime. Your personal sacrifices-- and others for you. Under stress, an obsession with sex, death, or underworld activities; jealousy or possessiveness of others. Beneficially, the courage and resources to make effective and necessary change. Spiritually, a universal connection with others.

9th House
Further education, long journeys, your philosophy of life, religion, morals, dreams, society's laws, in-laws. Foreign people and places. On the minus side, self-centeredness, isolationism. Travel restrictions. On the plus side, able to develop concepts and share them. Spiritually, the teaching of spirituality to others.

10th House
External aspects of life, the the business home, career and personal achievements, social status. Father figures of authority--teachers, employer, police, etc. Under stress, an obsession with power or career; ruthlessness, or martyrdom; Karma with ambition. Beneficially, the effective use of self-discipline for local growth. Spiritually able to rise in metaphysical matters to help others.

11th House
Social groups and friends, clubs, culture and societies. Intellectual pleasures, ambitions and aspirations. Under stress, exploiting goals and friends for non-spiritual means. Karma with group aspirations. Helpful aspects provide the means to become an authentic humanitarian. Spiritually, the integration of societal activities with spiritual growth.

12th House
Self-undoing, self sacrifice. Karmic service -- for prior life atonement. Seclusion in an institution, hospital, or monastery. Ultimate understanding of oneness with humanity and the source. Under stress this can induce artificial states of consciousness and self-destruction. Beneficially, the desire to serve others, full of love and light. A spiritual master, a psychic.
