Current Events:: Strong or Weak Suit
A strong suit is defined as a quality, activity, or skill in which a person excels. I seem to have a rather unique quality that enables me to analyze certain things and quickly find any weakness contained therein. I’ve spent a significant portion of my life in the field of Reliability Technology analyzing and predicting weaknesses and failure rates of electronic and electro-mechanical systems.

Certain planets in Scorpio and a strong Uranus/Pluto certainly contribute to this quality. However, the energy always seems to linger. For instance, I’ll install some new software or acquire some new media player and immediately I’m confronted in dealing with inherent weaknesses that makes the item in question difficult to use, non-functional, or time consuming in working out a fix.

Another thing is that I’m always trying to improve on many things, primarily making them more efficient. Perhaps this defined by the contrast of a Leo rising with Saturn close by in the first, squaring my Sun. The net result is that my lifestyle is quite inefficient because I get bogged down with the details of fixing and improving.

I’ve noticed that individuals with a strong Uranus and say Mercury in Scorpio square Pluto can seemingly have so much electrical energy that electrical items will fail randomly yet at a rate higher than normal. This is not my problem, as I don’t induce the glitch.

Maybe I should focus more on grounding myself and be more accepting of the way things are made.

My step-father (actually my Uncle—my real fathers’ brother), died during mid-January, and I found it interesting to review his natal chart. It seems his Venus and Mars were quite prominent, so much so that one would never have guessed his Mars was in Scorpio.

His Mars was square his Moon and Neptune (in Leo), and consequently through Neptune, diffusing most forms of aggression. Mars may have been in the sixth as he tended to see things as a reflection of himself and was rather unwilling to change. Perhaps much of this was due to a very tough life in being orphaned at a young age and institutionalized in the navy for some 20 years. Venus often shines through when the energies of Mars are shrouded. Venus in Virgo can certainly cool affection, which his early life enforced, and I’ll always remember his comment to me in my teenage years “If you have a roof over your head, clothes on your back and food to eat, what more do you want?” As a rather sensitive Scorpio, I needed to give and receive love, so life with him during those early days was a big challenge.

The other most significant thing about virgin Venus is an incredible sense of duty, which he demonstrated immediately after my real father’s death when I was nine years old. About seven years later, he married my mother, but my rebellious youth wanted none of that.

A greater understanding of him in later life drew me closer, particularly after my mother’s death just over five years ago. I’d call him on the phone and sometimes spend ages just talking about all sorts of things. Below is a eulogy I wrote for his funeral:

A Eulogy for my step-father, born August 13, 1920; departed January 18, 2010.

My Uncle Reg's early upbringing was quite challenging, which led him to be quite pragmatic, but he was a fun-loving and witty man, and well read - especially in history.

His values tended to revolve around duty and immediately after my own father's death, he accepted the responsibility of providing for his brothers' children. Mainly through habit, we continued to call him Uncle Reg, but he truly possessed some of the best qualities of a father.

In my teenage years, Uncle Reg and I had our problems, but in later years, we got on very well and enjoyed quite a few lengthy phone chats. Over time, I came to understand his nature and the challenges that life presented to him.

Uncle Reg was quite young when he lost his own parents and he was required to lead a stoic life, so he was somewhat detached from society in general. Despite this, he possessed excellent social skills - which were especially evident when we brought someone home to meet him. Oddly enough, this social charm actually hid the fact that he was rather shy. Furthermore, Uncle Reg could be very sympathetic and caring, but his personal sense of independence and duty made it quite difficult for him to accept the same from others.

If I never made the point clear to him in mortal life, I sincerely thank him for all his sacrifice and dedication to me, and for enduring my reactionary years.

Thanks DAD, for everything. I'm heartened that my original father will assist in your transition. As a child in the orphanage, you cried for your brother Leslie to take you away - now, he finally has. For that, I'm truly happy. I'll see you all on the other side...

The transit Saturn-Pluto square formed during November of this year will last through August 2010--with a minor respite during most of May when Saturn retrogrades into Virgo.

This transit tends to impose obligations or commitments against one's will. If this transit is highlighted in your own natal chart it can create severe difficulties, so it is important that you do not resist and struggle against elements that seem to hold you down. This is a time to make a special effort, and possibly some self-sacrifice, in order to realize the limitations of earthly life by learning how to responsibly yield to another person. If one resists the necessary changes that Pluto is trying to exert, the pent-up suppression by Saturn of such forces can ultimately lead to dangerous circumstances. The test or lesson of this transit is that it allows a person to take responsibility for inner motives and to control certain tendencies, such as the manipulation of other people. Also, observe the house and zodiac signs that this square takes place in for further influences.

With Saturn primarily in the sign of Libra this can be a tough passage as it squares to Pluto in Saturn’s ruling sign of Capricorn. Librian love of life and relationships can be tested, particularly if there is a lack of honesty, balance and maturity. Weak relationships are more likely to disband if an effort is not made to withstand the stress and resultant anxiety that may occur.

On a global level, this transit can draw greater attention to societal inequities caused by overpopulation, poverty, limited education and the wide-ranging effects of inappropriate energy usage. Societies will need to be more responsible for population growth which in itself is the greatest contributor to climate change (an exponential growth leading to astronomical energy demands and pollution).

Saturn's influence is to act responsibly and invoke what needs to be done, while Pluto wants to destroy the old and build anew. Therefore, the best way to deal with this transit is to meditate and connect with the inner/higher essence of ourselves in order to be aware of what needs to be done and how to let go and make necessary changes.

Finally, create a realization of a better life and continue the work of spiritual, physical and emotional growth to allow greater prosperity.

I became aware this past month of the need to seriously deal with some health issues. An Astrologer once mentioned that having Hidalgo square my natal Moon might be the reason for certain bone and joint issues?

With transit Sun in square with natal Uranus, and transit Neptune in square with natal Mars, I was forced to confront a choice between going on a course of drugs that would suppress my immune system or facing excruciating pain as my joints continue to calcify.

Transit Saturn in sextile with natal Mars allowed for some enhanced confidence that I should seek some spiritual healing. With transit Uranus passing through my 9th house it was time for this recluse to venture out and meet a Shaman. Transit Jupiter in sextile with natal Moon allowed me to develop several friendships with women on this trip from California to Colorado.

Transit Uranus trined natal Mars, which allowed me to try something new, implement some change, and meet new and exciting friends. This transit also allows certain restrictions of the past to be dissolved, and to think about my future.

The healing went very well which covered physical, emotional and spiritual healing. For the first time in my life I'm starting to eat vegetables (without reacting) along with a healthier diet, and perform more exercise and meditation.

I’ve finally taken the bull by the horns and started some serious meditation. I’ve converted a lot of old tapes into MP3 files and uploaded them to various players. Perhaps this has been aided and abetted by a transit Mars to my natal Sun giving me some additional motivation.

Although transit Saturn is still giving the odd punch to various planets, it is trine my natal Mars giving consolidation to tasks that will assist me in the future—such as the meditations. Mars has entered my twelfth house, so this in itself makes it a good time to confront certain sub-conscious feelings.

All of the outer planets, except Saturn, have turned retrograde. The most popular view is that the effects of these planets will delay factors relating to these bodies. Perhaps this is why we are getting so many mixed messages about the economy and events in Iraq and Afganistan. Even health care reform appears to be stalled.

Well, I’m not standing still, and I must play those Tai-Chi videos a bit more. Until then, here's a video I came across:

General:: IS EARTH REALLY MIDGARD, HEAVEN, HADES, or a COMBINATION OF ALL 3?
In Pondering our situation in the Universe I came upon a quandery as to whether or not the Earth plane was in fact a 'midgard,' of sorts, heaven, or in fact Hell. It does seem to be a combination of all 3, in a way for the "Supreme Being," or omnipotent force that guides all things plays it's riddle upon our limited minds. YOu can go places on Earth and find Total Hell; why just knock on almost any door, and you could discover the individual "cross" that each of us must bear, by just being here. Does anyone actually exist, or live in a state of 'grace,' a heavenly state, as in a Ghandiest fashion, whereas giving up everything, makes for not being wanton, and therefore free of everything, and on the path of Bodhisattva. On the other hand, was Ghandi even totally happy, or Jesus for that matter, literally owning nothing, and in Jesus case, living the holy hell on Earth by being killed by it's inhabitants. What could be worse than that?
I always wondered if the Earth Plane was not in fact the Hades Realm and that we may all be living in a delusion that we can be saved and ascend from beyond this realm into a less painful existence, and one with more bliss. I mean, if you think about it, more Pain killers are sold, made, bought, and used on this Planet than nearly everything else....I guess God gave us the Opium poppy for a distinct reason, even though we ridicue, and criticize those weak enough or in pain enough to injest mass quantities of opium dirivatives (Oxycontin, Vicodin, Codeine, etc) in order to exist, survive, and get things done pain free. My point here is if this is Earth and we can qualify to ascend to a higher heavenly realm as promised by so many ancient faiths and religions 'as long as we follow their rules;' and that there truly is hope and a chance for us to be in a pain free realm filled with bliss, then we would all be in fine shape, especially those of us on a path of enlightenment, and ascension, and therefore we must rejoice for what could be. ON the other hand, if Earth was an illusion, and we are truly in a Hades type realm with little or no hope of escape, in fact, just 'blessed oblivion,' when dead, then that would take every religion in the history of the World and toss it to the wind. When I think of these things, I also wonder if there was a deity when there was TRULY HELL ON EARTH, with the giant predators we know as Dinosaurs, who ruled this planet for some 100's of millions of years, when Man has barely scratched the surface of the Earth realm, and even though we are currently the top of the food chain, Earth's #1 Predator, even above Scorpions, spiders, snakes, fire ants, tigers, bears, sharks, etcetera (Man being one of the few species that kills his own kind since his existence began)
With that in mind, I am reminded, that in life, and in the course of eternity, all things are made possible in relative thinking, and all scenarios become eventual, during the course of random evolution.

With that being said, we now turn to the fact that we have been killing each other oh this planet for 1,000's of years over the very basic issue of a SUPREME BEING, and which species, race, nationality, or religion has the correct version of exactly what to do in order to ascend and meet said being. If I were that being, I would be wondering why everyone down here on Earth would be insane enough to fight over my name, my rules, my attitude, and exactly what one must do to escape this realm, be free of the pull of karma, and material ownership, and ascend finally, and eventually to a heavenly state.

It's 6:14am, and I've been up all night; so in case you wonder what "Farley" does when he is up all night and has nothing better to do; I think of such things, and never ever stop trying to figure it out, or open my mind to a realm of infinite possibilites.

I find it essential to keep an open mind, never draw conclusions or bottom lines when it comes to the Universe, know that there is no real truth, only further truth, as life evolves, and that NO ONE SHOULD EVER HAVE TO DIE in God's name, or for the sake of anyone's belief in what or whom the deity is all about.

Even though I feel that I’ve somewhat addressed a lot of the Saturn stress in my chart, I still feel the effects of its occasional transit. I say this because transit Saturn is currently bearing down on my natal Moon in the form of a square. Perhaps additional transit stresses are contributing to a lower ebb but there’s certainly an indication of some underlying emotional problem here.

Those of us that have Saturn and/or the Moon under stress in our natal chart generally feel the effects of this transit more than most. It indicates a time of introspection, inhibition, or even depression if we are emotionally insecure or not sufficiently in touch with our feelings. Somehow, the universe presents us with situations that will test the level of our consolidated emotions. Emotional tension, conflict, and frustration are not uncommon. Emotional reactions that are unhealthy can be magnified to the point where it becomes obvious that they need to be dissolved. On the other hand, an insufficient expression of feelings can cause loneliness and depression. This is a time for serious reflection and meditation, which allows for a conscious effort to enhance our emotional security and balance our feelings within a social structure.

Well, I am feeling strangely down, and it’s as if those who have a really low level of social conscience are really testing the heck out of me. I guess I’ve always had a problem in dealing with such people but I suppose here in California it’s pretty rife—perhaps derived from those pioneers that strove to get here creating an independent and secular energy.

Perhaps my toughest challenge is not to judge such individuals too harshly, but I’m reminded by the Chinese proverb “Sufferance is Equal to Consent.”

Yes we went through a series of quakes from the conjunction of Jupiter and Neptune in the Earthquake sign of Aquarius, just recently, and I don't feel it's over..

I'm thinking all summer we should be prepared for 'shakers' in L.A. and all over the World.
Don't forget, L.A. county sits on 100 square mile Lava Lake over 10 miles below us, which could blow at any time...

DO we buy real estate in L.A., you might ask...not at the moment, eh?

With Neptune headed into Pisces, Pluto now in Capricorn, and Uranus headed for Aries all in the next couple years, the WORLD is headed for huge changes, endings, and awesome beginnings. Thanks for you interest in Radio Astrology dot com..

I was saddened to hear about the news of David Carradine’s death earlier today. My concern was actually about the way he died, and there appears to be some Astrological factors that may support the events leading to his transition.

Most of us who watched TV during the 70’s remember David largely from his hit TV series Kung Fu. These shows inspired me to embark on my own metaphysical learning and I practiced and learned a specialized form of martial arts called "White Eyebrow" (Pak Mei} and a unique form of Tai Chi where I would perspire just performing very slow moves.

There is one aspect in David’s chart that I can relate to and that is his Sun square Saturn rising and I’m sure he must have overcome much of this energy to be so successful as he was. Perhaps we never completely overcome such aspects and high expectations may have remained prevalent. His birth chart of 08.12.1936 at 12 noon, Hollywood CA shows a significant number of squares and oppositions.

Because of the way in which David was found, there have been speculations that he committed erotic asphyxiation (intentionally cutting off oxygen to the brain for sexual arousal). While there are indicators in his chart to support this, I’d rather wait for medical facts to definitively support such claims. However, I should mention that David has Lillith in the 8th house where there can be something of a fascination concerning death and exploring new boundaries--often involving sex. It also opposes Uranus creating a degree of unconventional energy. Venus opposes Pluto which often indicates uncontrollable passions, sexual obsession and self-destructive tendencies.

This information, while informative, makes me want to forget this aspect of his chart. I’d much rather remember him by his Mars in Libra trine Chiron aspect that portrays the evolved warrior-priest protecting and creating certain values that assist the well-being of others – like me!
